FAKTR

FAKTR or Functional and Kinetic Treatment with Rehabilitation was developed by Dr. Thomas Hyde and Dr. Greg Doerr. FAKTR has helped with many acute and chronic conditions involving the soft tissues. These include muscle strains, sprains, along with tendon/ligament conditions. Some of the specific common conditions include but not limited to:

  • ITB syndrome
  • Plantar Fasciitis
  • Sports conditions and injuries
  • Surgical recovery
  • Acute/Chronic injuries.

The FAKTR protocols includes:

  • instrumented-assisted soft tissue mobilization or IASTM
  • Joint/Muscle flossing
  • Myofascial release
  • Taping
  • Cupping
  • Functional movements and therapeutic exercises

Because of the variety of protocols, it is easy to customize and cater to each patient’s needs.

IASTM involves using a small metal instrument to massage areas where there may be some restricted tissues which helps promote blood flow into this area. This allows pain and stiffness reductions as well as improving movement.

Taping helps to stabilize and support the muscles without interfering with everyday muscle movements or the healing process of the muscles. It may also help reduce swelling and prevent re-injury

Cupping is done by creating a local suction on the skin with a silicon cup. Gliding cupping is done the same, but an emollient is used to be able to glide the cup back and forth on the area that is being treated.
